ILP “Design” – Google Classroom

I did my Independent Learning Project on Google Classroom. Google classroom is an essential educational tools for teachers especially when working with online courses. It allows you to post announcements, due dates, any classwork, and it includes a roster with all the students emails. For my Voice Thread I created 6 slides where in the first slide I go over the entire google classroom. Every slide following is another brief description of explaining some aspects of google classroom. Listed below is the link to my voice thread: https://voicethread.com/share/13102567/

Twitter is something that can now be considered as controversial. Overall I mainly use twitter for humor and to be caught up in all the dumb celebrity drama. Usually I don't typically tweet I will most likely just retweet and favorite tweets that are appealing to me. Twitter is very beneficial as it can helps spread news and awareness, it can also help people become famous which is pretty cool. In the future twitter would be a good way to have students interact with one another and share ideas and thoughts openly without fear of speaking up. The digital divide is something the gap between those who have technology and those who do not have access to it. The digital divide affects students success in school because is proven that those who don't have access to technology are at a disadvantage because they won't be able to access all the resources out there for academic such as online academic softwares or interactive study apps. As a teacher I believe that digital divide ca...

After reviewing the ELA standards the one that really stood out to me were the ones that applied to grade eleven and twelve. In your junior and senior year of high school it is very imperative that you are learning the basic requirements and skills to help prepare you for SAT/ACT and for college. Standard, Standards Technology 11-12 LAFS.1112.L.3.4, really sticks out because it deals with the students being able to comprehend and the meaning of words and phrases that they are unfamiliar with. Online dictionaries and other tools were super resourceful in highs school. They allowed me to be able to understand context that I was unfamiliar with. The other standards dealt with how you can take information and put it into different formats such as diagrams, pictures, videos, etc,. All of those skills are very valuable and will be used throughout the rest of your life either in school or in the workforce.           ...

As a student, Microsoft Word has become a prominent piece of technology throughout my years of school thus far. When doing any type of project that involves essays, brochures, news letters, resumes, cover letters, and more I would use Microsoft Word to get the job done. Without Microsoft Word school projects and assignments would be more time consuming and probably less appealing to the eye. I'd have to say that teachers use Microsoft Word twice as much as the students. They use it for notes, project requirements, news letters, test, pretty much anything that is handed out on a piece of paper is being done through MS Word. Copyright is something that I have struggled with over the course of the years. In classes such as theatre and student government you sometimes have to put songs on the background of videos but you can't do so because of copyright reasons. Websites, such as youtube, will deny you access to upload videos if they have copyright music. As a teacher I would use ...
In todays society technology is being used widely throughout the classrooms. The reason that technology has become such a wide spread use in the classroom is because technology is growing rapidly. Teachers and students are both using the technology in the classroom because it is a skill that is going to be necessary in the future because technology is only going to grow from here on out. The ISTE standards for educators are very accurate in its goal towards helping students become empowered leaders. One standard that stands out to me is leader. A big part of being a teacher is being able to hold the role as a leader and being able to demonstrate it positively. Like the standards suggest, educators should be able to meet the diverse needs of all students, which is a huge role that a leader should demonstrate. One standard that I do not think that I have acquired skill for yet is learner. The standard learner requires educators to set goals, stay current with new research, and to be in...

Hello blog! My name is Jessica Kaplan but my friends usually will call me Jess or Jessie. Currently I am attending Florida State University and hoping to pursuit a career as a Speech Pathologist which falls under the major of Communication Sciences and Disorders. I was always unsure of what I wanted to do in life but I have always had a love and passion for helping others and working with kids which is why I believe Speech Pathology to be a perfect career for me. In the past I have used a tremendous amount of techonlogy in the education setting. Throughout high school we used different technologies ranging from smartboards to projectors. We also had a Mac Computer Lab accessbile for students in journalism or yearbook class. Incoming freshman were required to sign up for a intro to technology class to help them get equipped with Word, Power Point, and Excel. In this class I hope to gain knoweldge about the advancemetns of technology. I want to apply those advancements of technology an...
