In todays society technology is being used widely throughout the classrooms. The reason that technology has become such a wide spread use in the classroom is because technology is growing rapidly. Teachers and students are both using the technology in the classroom because it is a skill that is going to be necessary in the future because technology is only going to grow from here on out.

The ISTE standards for educators are very accurate in its goal towards helping students become empowered leaders. One standard that stands out to me is leader. A big part of being a teacher is being able to hold the role as a leader and being able to demonstrate it positively. Like the standards suggest, educators should be able to meet the diverse needs of all students, which is a huge role that a leader should demonstrate. One standard that I do not think that I have acquired skill for yet is learner. The standard learner requires educators to set goals, stay current with new research, and to be involved in learning networks. Setting goals is something that I need to work on as I am not good at creating goals to set. Staying current with research and being involved in learning network are skills that I need practice.

The term digital natives is used to describe people who were brought up during the growth of technology and how they're familiar with technology at an early age. I agree that the term digital natives is a very accurate term to describe this generations youth. I consider myself to fall under the term digital natives. If I was put in a scenario with a person in their 60's I would consider them digital immigrants because they did not grow up with all of this technology, so they need people to teach them. In the classroom I would have to say that teachers are well equipped with technology although most of them are considered digital immigrants. They know how to use the technology but are not as fast with it as the students are. In the future I except the students and myself to be both considered digital natives because we grew up in era filled with technology.

  1. To be great teacher you have to be a great learner. Not only because we need to keep up with the time but you need to constantly learn from the students about their needs so that we can tailor our instruction to the group. Tech plays a very important role here because it help us to stay well-informed about the classroom.

As a student, Microsoft Word has become a prominent piece of technology throughout my years of school thus far. When doing any type of project that involves essays, brochures, news letters, resumes, cover letters, and more I would use Microsoft Word to get the job done. Without Microsoft Word school projects and assignments would be more time consuming and probably less appealing to the eye. I'd have to say that teachers use Microsoft Word twice as much as the students. They use it for notes, project requirements, news letters, test, pretty much anything that is handed out on a piece of paper is being done through MS Word. Copyright is something that I have struggled with over the course of the years. In classes such as theatre and student government you sometimes have to put songs on the background of videos but you can't do so because of copyright reasons. Websites, such as youtube, will deny you access to upload videos if they have copyright music. As a teacher I would use ...

Using Twitter has been an interesting experience. Prior to this class I would only use twitter for the social aspects. Using it for a class allows you to actually gain some sort of knowledge. The benefits of using twitter as a part of this class are that you can learn new things that developing within the education realm. I get updates from the United States education department almost daily and it is interesting to read the facts that they post.         After completing the Web Design assignment I realized how easy it was to make a website. I have worked with Wix Portfolio before but I didn't remember how to use it. I liked how they have templates already designed for you, it makes the process a lot easier if you're not creative. The only issue I had was when trying to put boxes around text it would not let me edit the text after so I had to copy the text, delete it and create a new text box, which was frustrating. Th...

The flipped classroom approach is when you give the students the material online before the class. This means that the students are able to learn the material before class. Then, class time can be used for discussion and deeper clarification on the subject at hand. This approach allows the students to gain a better understanding of the information. An open educational resources are basically an online learning resource that are very accessible. These resources allow teachers to adapt these resources and use them with in their classroom free of charge, it helps broaden their material. The educational resource I am discussing can be found on through this link:    https://www.oercommons.org/courses/100-people-a-world-portrait/view . It provides you information on global issues, pictures, videos, stats, and ways to get involved.  The powerpoint assignment was very interesting. In my opinion the non-interactive powerpoint was harder than the interactive powerpoi...
